openxVM

xVM is the intersection of virtualization and management. OpenxVM is a community hub for a number of related open source projects that together create the next generation of data center infrastructure.

Apparently VMware Server 2 beta lets you force VMs into BIOS setup mode :

- go to you VM with the VI client
- stop the machine
- then Options tab
- then "Boot options"
- check "Force BIOS setup".

FastSCP ensures security by using a one-time password feature and works over 6 times faster than SCP.

Open source VMware guest tools

VMware have announced that they’re open-sourcing most parts of our Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris guest tools.
